Dear Friends,
I am often asked what makes The Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City so special. My response is always the same. It’s the people - our patients and clients, our staff, our volunteers and our donors.
One cannot help but be inspired by those we serve. They come from all different walks of life, each with a unique story to tell. Some are children and adults whose lives were changed when the unthinkable happened - a viral infection, a neurological disorder, a stroke, a diving accident, a car collision or some other serious illness or injury affected their ability to function independently. Others have been challenged their entire life by cerebral palsy, spina bifida, developmental disabilities or mental health issues. Despite their challenges, each has a common goal - to be able to take full advantage of life’s options and opportunities.
Our staff help turn goals into reality. They are among the most experienced in their fields, possessing the training and skill level needed to address the most complex rehabilitation cases. They are also compassionate, dedicated and driven to help people with disabilities achieve their full potential.
Volunteers and contributors provide the added support needed to make our organization work. Our Board of Directors provide the governance, leadership and business expertise that complements our mission and values. Our volunteers lend their time and talents to a variety of Institute causes. And, our wonderful donors provide the extra resources we need to develop new services and to assure that individuals who need our help receive it.
To all of the people that make The Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City the special place that it is, I say thank you.
Sincerely,

Don Harkins
President & CEO
