| Founded in 1947, the Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City helps children and adults with disabilities achieve their highest physical, functional and vocational potential. Located at 3011 Baltimore in Kansas City, Missouri, the Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City (TRI-KC) is a leading provider of comprehensive rehabilitation services for children and adults with complex disabilities resulting from spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, stroke, birth defect, developmental delay and neurological disorder. Programs at TRI-KC are highly individualized, goal-oriented and assist those at all stages of life, from birth to the elderly. Services encompass a combination of physical, occupational and speech therapies as well as neuropsychology services, classroom instruction/school reintegration and vocational evaluation, counseling and placement as appropriate. The Institute employs 160 full and part-time employees including a physiatrist; physical therapists: speech pathologists; neuropsychologists; registered nurses; social workers; a special education teacher; vocational counselors and employment placement specialists.
In addition to our day treatment and employment service models, we provide a number of specialty programs. These include Driving Evaluation and Training, Adaptive Communication and Computer Technology and Neuro Psychology Services.
A member agency of the Heart of America United Way since 1954, TRI-KC was the first facility in Missouri to offer an inpatient rehabilitation unit and to be accredited by CARF, the Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission. Since 1971, TRI-KC has continually had the highest number of CARF accredited programs in the nation.
