Any adult of working age who experiences
a disability is appropriate for employment services.
Career Counseling and Assessment Services provides
an integrated sequence of vocational assessment, career development
and employment readiness for adults with disabilities. Services
help participants identify job-related interests, skills and
abilities in order to develop a career plan.
Assistive Technology Services are provided through
our specialty Adaptive Computer and Communication Technology
(ACCT) program. ACCT is designed to provide opportunities
for individuals of all ages to work with specially trained
staff to identify assistive technology tools and strategies
which facilitate their independence in work, school or at
home. Incorporating these tools may improve the functional
abilities of individuals with physical, sensory, cognitive
or communicative limitations.
Job Placement Services helps job seekers connect with
potential employers through résumé development,
job seeking skill instruction and a supported job search.
Services are designed to help individuals obtain and maintain
employment that matches their abilities and interests.
Extended/Sheltered Employment through R.I. Industries provides employment
opportunities and supportive rehabilitation services to adults
with disabilities who-at the time of admission-are unable
to work in the competitive labor market due to limited skills
and/or work experience. Workers may gain experience through
Rehabilitation Institute Industries that will help them transition
into other community job opportunities.
Consulting Services
are designed for individuals who experience a disability or injury which impacts or challenges their ability to return to or retain employment. Persons participating in the Consulting Services typically have been injured/disabled on the job or have a non-work related injury/disability which adversely affects their ability to perform the essential functions of their job and may have a need for additional rehabilitation services that have not yet been identified.
School to Work Transition Services include a sequence of activities designed to help high school students with disabilities develop a plan for post-secondary employment or training that matches their interests, abilities and needs. Services are closely coordinated with families, school district personnel and sponsoring agencies (usually state Vocational Rehabilitation.)
